| Let me be the first to congratulate Harar and its wonderful people for taking the initiative to carry the long lived and enjoyed event in North America:cheers: back to Harar. For those who have never had a chance to attend a July event previously:sleep:, I would strongly recommend to attend this one (providing everything works out well for you). And for those who have never visited Harar (individuals like me:D) make sure you try this summer, it will be a 2-for-1 deal. Until then keep up the good work Nabil Ziad Ahmed nabilziad@yahoo.comToronto, Canada | |

| Congratulations Harar, and thanks a bunch for the invitation,
I guess those who never had a chance to attend but hear about July event took initiatives to bring us where we belong and are preparing for the best hospitality Harar can offer. It is a wonderful feeling to see finally our hometown leadership is taking us to the heart of our roots to enjoy, feel the deepest sense of belonging, have a say in our country affairs, contribute our share to our society, invest and benefit ourselves and our country and so on.
Thanks to Harari leadership for their thoughts and efforts in organizing such events. For those who live out of our country, wherever we are, this is a great opportunity to attend and feel what we may have missed for decades.
I’ve definitely made my plans to attend with my son and Insha Allah, we will be there. I also encourage our fellow Hararis in North America to attend such great event organized by our own Country.
Just to throw my suggestion to the organizers,
I think, It would be very nice to see one day before our departure from Harar, that if the organizers can prepare seedling for planting trees by every Harari some where around Harar such as Aw Hakim Sari or anywhere the Harari authorities may think fit.
My reasons for this is,
· Our country environment is very depilated and in need of rehabilitation.
· To elevate awareness on environmental issues.
· To elevate awareness of community volunteering to encourage Harari youth. Remember how students in North America are encouraged by schools to plant trees every year (Earth day). This is just to preserve our lovely hometown environment.
· Last, but not least, we leave something behind in our memory (Qatabti)
Thanks again Harar,
See you in July 2007

| Subject: A quiz for you to get you explore, Fri Dec 01, 2006 8:42 am | |
| Asalamu Aleykum all,
Here I’ve a quiz for you to get you explore about our ancestors Engineering ability that is widely used until today in North America.
1. Do you know over 800 years of age Harari homes (Gey Gar) and most of the latest North American homes have architecturally or as per design have one area in common and used for the same purpose?
It is for you to discover in July 2007.
· Used in both countries or may be other part of modern world for preservations.
Comment to our organizers,
I’m not sure If you have thought of this, but If possible It would be very interesting and useful to get a details of information on how the century old Harari Homes (Gey Gar) were built.
The details may include the architectural, structural, use of the space and security feature of homes. If this was sketched by our Harari Engineers and presented during the 2007 tour it would be very fascinating. Please note that our youth in North America would understand it very much when presented the possible details and will be fascinated. Kids are always curious and love to explore.
As we all know the muslim world has contributed significantly in Engineering to the world that is in use until this day and will continue to be used for generations.
Our ancestors have contributed in building their lives and interesting to explore their mind, such as engineering, writing, teaching, and the Struggle to maintain and preserve our. Identity.
Just a thought,

| Attractions:The hyena man of HararAs most of us we now or watched documentaries on wildlife behaviors, it is unimaginable to see a human being would be a friend of the wild beast (hyenas) and feeding them mouth to mouth. The hyenas are well known for their group attacks and even the king of the forest (Lion)is afraid of them.A fascinating story from the BBC News site for us waits for us to see in July 2007.Please visit http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/2079781.stm and discover the story of unimaginable wild beasts befriending human in the City Of Harar. Let us get our kids to see such spectacular seen. They would love to see this.I’ve been a few times in Harar and I don’t have much detail information about the City. If anyone of you would think of any place other areas than popular sites please need your comment. The last time I visited Harar was in 1995 and had a chance to see some shrines, Museum and now I learned that I missed so many. Recently I saw centuries old religious books, various battle arms, coins and jewelers and other articles on a video. I’m very fascinated and love to visualize. These are things you don’t want to miss and the Kids to see. Meftuh Shash Toronto, Canada |

| Way to go hararians!!! This portal has opened a vital door for us to connect and stay in-touch. And our harar will only develop if we implement into action what we are saying on this forum. I know I'm not bragging when I say that we have the most intellectual brains and abilities that can serve the whole country. Let us use it to develop our hometown.it has seen enough and it is about time (1000 years later) that we enter this new millenium with determination to contribute in every possible way we can. I believe this web site would be the best place to start bringing up ideas and the way how to concert our efforts to implement them. Hararis!!!!! we are known to have the 'out-going' personality so let's talk!!!!! yours, Fahmi N. Mohammed (Kerima Shash Yusuf) Helsinki, Finland P.S: Let's spread the word of the launch of this website. And for those of you who haven't seen Sherif Private Museum pls goto www.youtube.com and type in the key words 'Sherif Private Museum'. I have been to his house in harar personally and I couldn't believe my eyes. There is nothing in the National Museum having a great historic value as the one at Sherifs'!!Please pay a visit to this museum on your journey back home for the July festivities!! | |
